COTABATO CITY—Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua underscored Monday that peace is tantamount to the Bangsamoro region’s economic investment benefits, which center on livelihood for farmers, jobs for youth, and more opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
“Peace must mean better incomes for our farmers, decent work for our young people, growing businesses for our entrepreneurs, and dignity and security for our communities,” said Macacua in Davao City during the Oct. 27-28 Mindanao Development Forum (MDF) 2026.
This forum—organized by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA)—served as a platform that tackled the next steps in Mindanao’s growth, bringing together leaders from the government, private sector, and development community.
Macacua mentioned that predictable policies, reliable infrastructure, and capable government institutions are essential to maintaining investor confidence and ensuring that investments produce results.
“Confidence is earned through performance. We must show that our institutions deliver, that commitments are kept, and that investments produce results,” he stated.
During the two-day event, he attended an executive session with ambassadors, discussing Mindanao’s peace and security situation and encouraging diplomatic missions to ensure that travel advisories reflect actual conditions on the ground.
The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the Bangsamoro Government’s commitment to implementing the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB)—the final peace accord between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)—and strengthening the institutions established through the peace process, citing peace and security as important foundations for development.
Under the Mas Matatag na Bangsamoro Agenda, the Bangsamoro Government aims to strengthen investment foundations, develop local industries, and equip workers with skills suited to emerging economic opportunities. (John-Jeo Cejudo/BIO)
